What Meghan Said to a Wedding Caterer That Prompted a Rare Royal Intervention…

According to royal biographer Katie Nicholl, Meghan Markle once upset a wedding caterer so severely during a menu tasting that Queen Elizabeth II had to step in.

The incident, detailed in Nicholl’s book *The New Royals*, reportedly took place at Windsor Castle ahead of Meghan’s 2018 wedding to Prince Harry.

During the tasting, Meghan allegedly complained about detecting egg in a dish that was supposed to be vegan and macrobiotic. Sources claim she became visibly upset and confronted the catering staff over the mistake.

Word of the tense exchange reached Queen Elizabeth, who is said to have addressed the issue directly by reminding Meghan, “In this family, we don’t speak to people like that.”

A spokesperson for Meghan did not comment on the claims.

This isn’t the first time Meghan has been accused of being difficult with palace staff. British journalist Tom Quinn previously reported that she had been nicknamed the “Duchess of Difficult” during her time as a working royal.

One palace insider suggested Meghan struggled with royal protocols, calling the system “medieval” and difficult to navigate.

Other staff described her behavior as inconsistent — friendly and warm at times, then irritated when staff didn’t respond promptly. Meghan was also reportedly referred to as “Mystic Meg” for her modern, spiritual views that some found too progressive.

In a separate 2018 incident, Meghan was accused of bullying a junior palace staffer, adding to a growing list of staff complaints during her royal tenure.
