Kelly Ripa’s wedding dress is still getting plenty of wear — nearly three decades later.
In a recent interview for *People’s World’s Most Beautiful* issue, the 54-year-old talk show host shared that she still wears the same lacy gown she said “I do” in, though now it has a different purpose.
Ripa, who eloped with her husband Mark Consuelos in Las Vegas back in 1996, didn’t go the traditional bridal route when choosing her dress.
Instead, she picked up an off-the-rack piece during a warehouse sale at Barneys New York for under $200. “I took the tags off to wear it to our wedding and I wear it all the time now as a beach cover-up,” she said.
The dress wasn’t even purchased with a wedding in mind — Ripa simply found it pretty and decided to splurge. At the time, she was working on the soap opera *All My Children*, and figured the dress might be a worthwhile investment.
That instinct turned out to be right, as the gown has since become a go-to staple in her summer wardrobe.
She even wore it again during a romantic vacation for her 20th wedding anniversary with Consuelos in Turks and Caicos.
While the mother of three has held onto the dress, she did admit in a video interview with her daughter Lola that there are certain styles she no longer wears, like miniskirts — though she made an exception for that occasion.
Perhaps one day, her daughter might make her own memories in that same timeless gown.
