Sophia Umansky, daughter of Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky, recently shared her experience with taking Mounjaro, a weight-loss drug she’s been using for about four months.
In a TikTok video posted on April 30, the *Buying Beverly Hills* star revealed that while the medication has helped her shed pounds, it’s also led to an unexpected side effect: significant hair loss.
Though Mounjaro—an FDA-approved treatment for Type 2 diabetes known for aiding weight loss—has curbed her appetite and altered how her body processes fat and sugar, Sophia said the hair loss began roughly three to four weeks ago.
“At this rate, I’ll be bald in a week,” she joked, despite noting she’s fortunate to have thick hair.
She gave followers a glimpse into the extent of the shedding, showing images of hair collected in her bathroom and running her fingers through her hair to demonstrate how easily it falls out.
Sophia emphasized that she doesn’t believe the medication itself is the root cause, but rather the rapid weight loss and lack of nutrients that often accompany it.
To address the issue, she’s started using OMI hair peptides and is focusing on increasing her intake of collagen, protein, and vitamins.
Her symptoms are consistent with telogen effluvium, a common condition triggered by physical stress on the body, such as sudden weight loss.
