Fran Drescher’s Bold Message to Trump Could Save Hollywood — You Won’t Believe What She’s Demanding…

SAG-AFTRA president and “The Nanny” star Fran Drescher has a different take on how to protect the American film industry.

Instead of Donald Trump’s proposed 100% tariff on foreign-made movies, Drescher believes tax incentives are the real solution.

Speaking at The New York Women’s Foundation Celebrating Women Breakfast, where she was honored, Drescher said she’s actively working with President Trump on tax abatements for the entertainment industry.

“Our president is a businessman. He understands the bottom line,” she said, adding that companies won’t stay in the U.S. unless it’s economically viable.

Trump recently announced his controversial plan to place heavy tariffs on movies produced abroad to combat what he called the “very fast de ath” of Hollywood. He argued that foreign incentives are drawing American productions away and weakening the U.S. industry.

But Drescher disagrees. “If we get the tax abatement, that will solve the problem,” she said. She believes that by making production more affordable in the U.S., filmmakers will have less reason to go overseas, eliminating the need for tariffs entirely.

She emphasized, “Let’s get those tax abatements to create an environment in the U.S. that’s just as appealing as other countries. Then the problem will be solved.”

According to a SAG-AFTRA spokesperson, they’re working alongside other unions, the MPA, and the Hollywood Ambassadors to push for these changes.
