Miley Cyrus recently opened up about a frightening health scare she experienced while co-hosting “Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party” with Dolly Parton to kick off 2023.
During a candid interview on The Zane Lowe Show, the pop star revealed she suffered a ruptured ovarian cyst during the live broadcast.

She described the ordeal as “traumatic” and “excruciating,” noting that despite the intense pain, she pushed through and completed the show.
At the time, she and her team were unaware of the exact cause of her pain, adding to the distress. Cyrus reflected on how challenging the experience was, even admitting it made her contemplate stepping away from music altogether.

However, a dinner conversation with SNL producer Lorne Michaels helped shift her perspective. Michaels told her that everyone goes through rough patches and gave her the advice: “Everyone gets six months to feel sorry for themselves, and then we rebuild.”
The Grammy winner also discussed another ongoing health challenge—Reinke’s edema, a condition that affects her vocal cords. She said the polyp on her cords has shaped her unique voice but makes performing very difficult, comparing it to “running a marathon with ankle weights.”

Now, after regrouping and healing, Cyrus is preparing to release her latest album, Something Beautiful, later this month. Despite the struggles, she continues to move forward with strength and resilience, proving her passion for music remains deeply rooted—even after life’s unexpected setbacks.
