ABBA Icon Björn Ulvaeus Reveals Inner Battle Over 28-Year Age Gap With Wife: “I Couldn’t Fight It Anymore”

ABBA legend Björn Ulvaeus has candidly shared how he came to terms with the 28-year age gap between him and his new wife, Christina Sas.

The 79-year-old music icon told *The Times* that while it was “love at first sight” when he met 52-year-old Sas, the age difference initially caused him inner turmoil.

“Immediately, I had severe problems with myself and the age difference,” Ulvaeus admitted. “When you fall for someone much younger, you question whether it’s right.”

But over time, he let go of his doubts, saying, “It’s up to her — if she wants to be with someone older and we love each other, then that’s all that matters.”

The couple met in 2021 while Sas, a music industry professional, was working on the release of ABBA’s final album, *Voyage*. Their bond grew quickly, and by spring 2022, they were a couple. They tied the knot in September 2023 in Copenhagen.

For Ulvaeus, this is his third marriage. He was previously married to fellow ABBA member Agnetha Fältskog, with whom he shares two children, and later to music journalist Lena Källersjö, with whom he had two more daughters.

Beyond his personal life, Ulvaeus is still making waves professionally. He discussed the ongoing success of the *ABBA Voyage* virtual concert in London and even teased its future, posing philosophical questions about legacy and performance after death.
