Prince Harry has lost a significant legal battle over his security arrangements in the UK. On May 2, the court upheld the British government’s 2020 decision to remove his publicly funded protection while visiting the country.
The ruling—originally issued by the Home Office after Harry stepped down from royal duties in 2020—means that Harry will not receive automatic police security during UK visits.
The Duke of Sussex had challenged this ruling, arguing that it placed his life at risk. In previous interviews, Harry described the situation as emotionally taxing, calling the legal process “exhausting and overwhelming.”
His lawyer, Shaheed Fatima, emphasized during a court hearing that his safety is genuinely threatened, stating, “his life is at stake.”
Harry expressed disappointment that the court disclosures seemed to confirm his worst fears. He believes the security decision was partially motivated by an attempt to pressure him and Meghan into returning to royal life after relocating to California.
This legal setback comes as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are stepping back into public life. Meghan recently launched a Netflix series called *With Love* and a lifestyle brand named *As Ever*.
She also hosts a new podcast, *Confessions of a Female Founder*. Meanwhile, Harry is working on a polo-themed Netflix documentary focused on the U.S. Open Polo Championship in Florida.
Despite controversies surrounding their royal departure and media ventures like *Spare* and the *Harry & Meghan* docuseries, the couple appears to be forging a new path through media and brand development.
