Prince Harry has shared that he still hopes for a reconciliation with his family and has forgiven them despite their differences.
In a revealing interview with BBC News following the loss of his legal case over U.K. security, Harry expressed sadness that King Charles III won’t speak to him, referencing ongoing issues around protection.
He also voiced concern about his father’s health, saying, “I don’t know how much longer my father has.”
Harry lost a legal battle on May 2 challenging the British government’s decision to downgrade his security since stepping back from royal duties in 2020.
Despite offering to pay for protection himself, he was denied publicly funded security, a move he believes puts his family at risk—especially during U.K. visits.
He linked his concerns to the tragic death of his mother, Princess Diana, stating, “I don’t want history to repeat itself.”
He criticized the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (RAVEC) for failing to properly assess the risks he faces and said Buckingham Palace could have intervened but chose not to.
Although disappointed with the court’s ruling, Harry reiterated that his legal action was a last resort aimed at protecting his family.
Though hurt, Harry remains open to mending ties with the royal family but made it clear he won’t compromise on his family’s safety: “I feel exhausted, but I know the importance of standing up for what’s right.”
