Prince Harry opened up in an emotional BBC interview about his strained relationship with King Charles, revealing they are no longer in contact—mainly due to disputes over Harry’s security arrangements.
Their bond has long been rocky, and Harry explored some of its deeper issues in his memoir *Spare*.
One of the most sensitive topics he addressed was the long-standing rumor questioning whether King Charles is truly his biological father. The speculation, largely fueled by Princess Diana’s former relationship with Major James Hewitt, haunted Harry for years.
Despite this, he claims Charles never reassured him or discussed the matter seriously. In fact, Harry said the scene often described in biographies—where Charles allegedly comforted him over the rumors—never happened.
Adding to the tension, Harry recalled that Charles once made a distasteful joke, questioning if he was really Harry’s father, even referencing an asylum in the remark. Harry admitted the joke stung, given the media frenzy about his paternity at the time.
Despite the hurt, Harry expressed a wish to reconcile with his family, saying he no longer sees value in conflict. However, he acknowledged that any reunion would have to come from their side.
His relationship with Prince William is also fractured. Once inseparable, the brothers are now distant, only seen together publicly during events like Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral and King Charles’ coronation.
