Kelly Clarkson Clashes With Talk Show HR Over Weight Loss Comments — You Won’t Believe Why!

Kelly Clarkson recently shared a humorous story about nearly getting into trouble with her talk show’s HR department over her weight loss.

During a concert in Atlantic City on May 10, the singer joked that she wanted “every person who walks by” to compliment her transformation.

After a fan called her “sexy,” Clarkson thanked them and said HR doesn’t allow comments like that, as they could make people feel bad about their past appearance.

She explained HR’s stance: complimenting someone’s slim-down might imply they looked worse before. Clarkson disagreed, saying, “I was fat before — so I want to hear, ‘Damn, well done!’”

While she emphasized that she felt confident at any size, she admitted she enjoys dressing up more now, thanks to the 60 pounds she’s lost.

The 43-year-old star revealed she started taking a Type II diabetes medication (not Ozempic) in 2024 after her bloodwork worsened. She told viewers she weighed 203 pounds at her heaviest and received a prediabetes diagnosis.

Clarkson also credited her move to Manhattan and a high-protein diet for aiding her transformation, adding that city walking became a natural workout.

Though her weight loss has drawn attention, Clarkson made it clear she was never unhappy in her previous body. “I wasn’t miserable,” she said. “I was fine.”

But she’s proud of her progress and joked that HR’s strict rules about compliments can be a bit much. Still, she clarified it’s all in good fun and respects HR’s role, despite occasionally poking fun at their policies.
