He’s Leaving After 14 Years—The Real Reason Mark Cuban Is Saying Goodbye to Shark Tank Will Surprise You…

After 14 seasons on Shark Tank, billionaire entrepreneur Mark Cuban is officially stepping away from the show. His final episode airs on May 16, 2025. Cuban, who first appeared as a guest in season 2 before becoming a full-time panelist, says he’s leaving with “no second thoughts.”

The main reason? Family. In interviews, Cuban explained that he wants to spend more time with his teenage children—Alexis, Alyssa, and Jake.

Filming typically happens in June and September, which overlaps with important family moments like the end of the school year and back-to-school season. He said it was time to be more present at home.

Though he’ll miss working with the cast and crew, Cuban emphasized that his decision isn’t about losing interest in the show. In fact, he still enjoys filming and the excitement of discovering new entrepreneurs.

But the time required—especially after the show, when he supports and mentors the businesses he invests in—has grown too demanding. As of late 2024, he had invested in 85 companies through Shark Tank.

There won’t be a direct replacement for him, though KIND Snacks founder Daniel Lubetzky has been promoted to a regular panelist.

Moving forward, Cuban plans to focus on his family and expand his affordable pharmaceutical company, Cost Plus Drugs. While he’ll still check in on past investments, he says he’s likely finished with reality TV.

His exit marks the end of an era—but also a new beginning.
