Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding photographer, Alexi Lubomirski, has opened up about the behind-the-scenes experience at their royal wedding — including a strict warning issued to guests.
Lubomirski, who also took the couple’s 2017 engagement photos, shared his story on TikTok, giving fans a rare glimpse into what went on during the big day at Windsor Castle.
According to Lubomirski, palace guards cautioned guests as they arrived: “Be careful what you say — the world can lip read.” As a result, many attendees were seen covering their mouths while speaking to avoid potential scrutiny from cameras.
Lubomirski also recalled the pressure of photographing such high-profile individuals. He asked Prince Harry for advice, who told him to be quick when capturing images of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, noting their years of experience in front of cameras made them less patient.
During the shoot, Lubomirski apologized to the Queen for taking extra time, to which she humorously responded, “It’s not me you need to worry about,” pointing to Prince Philip.
To keep the royal children in high spirits for group photos, Lubomirski admitted he used candy as a playful incentive. He later captured an iconic black-and-white shot of Harry and Meghan relaxing on the stairs in a private moment, inspired by an Audrey Hepburn photo.
The couple, who wed on May 19, 2018, at St. George’s Chapel, celebrated their seventh anniversary this week with previously unseen wedding photos shared by Meghan’s brand, As Ever.
