James Brolin, 84, recently offered a charming peek into the secret behind his nearly 30-year marriage to legendary singer and actress Barbra Streisand, 82.

During a chat on the “Today” show, the “Ransom Canyon” star credited something delightfully unexpected as the key to their long-lasting bond: a good mattress.

“It’s been our best investment,” Brolin joked, adding that both he and Streisand enjoy sleeping in and doing much of their work side by side — reading, talking, and simply being together.

When it comes to navigating disagreements, Brolin shared a bit of tried-and-true wisdom: “You learn to take a walk,” he said with a smile. “It’s about stepping back, breathing, and giving each other space.”

The couple’s story began in 1996 on a blind date, leading to their wedding in 1998. Before meeting Streisand, Brolin had been single and celibate for three years, determined not to rush into another relationship after past failed marriages.

But with Streisand, everything felt right — even if he had to ask more than once for her hand in marriage.

Looking back, Brolin calls marrying Streisand “the best thing I’ve ever done.”
