Halle Berry made a last-minute wardrobe change at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival after organizers introduced strict new dress code rules banning full nudity and overly large gowns.

The 58-year-old Oscar winner originally planned to wear a bold designer dress by Gupta, but revealed she had to switch to a black-and-white striped halter gown for opening night after learning the first one had “too big of a train.”

“I’m not going to break the rules,” Berry said, adding that the updated guidelines, including a no-nudity policy, didn’t bother her.

The actress, serving as a juror at this year’s festival, looked stunning in her backup choice. The new regulations were announced just a day before the event, with organizers emphasizing that outfits must not obstruct movement or violate French law regarding public nudity.
