Jennifer Lopez shocked fans this week by revealing a painful injury she suffered while rehearsing for the 2025 American Music Awards, which she’s set to host on May 26.
The 55-year-old superstar shared photos on Instagram showing a swollen, bruised nose and a cut on her face, explaining the accident happened during rehearsals.

“So this happened…,” Lopez wrote, as she showed herself icing the injury. She later thanked celebrity plastic surgeon Dr. Jason B. Diamond for stitching her up, saying, “A week later and a whole lotta ice and I’m good as new.”
Despite the setback, Lopez is pushing forward with her hosting duties. She’ll take the stage at the BleauLive Theater in Las Vegas for her second time hosting the AMAs, having last done so in 2015.

Penske Media CEO Jay Penske praised her return, saying, “Jennifer’s energy, talent, and presence make her the perfect host.”
Lopez, who has won three AMAs herself, joins a star-studded lineup that includes nominees like Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Post Malone, and Ariana Grande.
This isn’t the first time J.Lo has suffered an onstage injury. Back in 2009, she slipped and fell during a performance at the AMAs and later explained the mishap was caused by a dancer’s sweaty back.

But like always, Lopez remains resilient. She joked back then about wearing a helmet to perform—showing the same fierce determination fans admire her for today.
